Hey dont think all my blogs wld be reviews.. I am unable to resist myself from writing this. So here goes another small writeup!!!!
I had got a chance to see the film "DOR" day b4 yesterday.. Actually speaking I selected this film as I had no other choice. None of the english film was attractive and other hindi moives were already watched ones. This narrowed down for us to see this moive. I havent seen any of Nagesh Kukunoor's films [its better to name them as creation rather than simple commercial word]. This one turned out to be the best hindi moive i have ever seen in my life. Now i wish to see Iqbal and Hyderabad blues which r commented to be of the same kind.
Hey pals sure i am not going to disclose the outline of the story and i would request everyone to go and watch the movie [especially in theaters plz] and enjoy its essence urself. So u would think what is write up is going to be about. dont be confused. Just continue.
The lead roles [to be sure these r the 2 characters that the entire story circle around and entire film is filled with them] are Ayesha Takia - as Meera and Gul Panag - as Zeenat. The light side for this quite a bit heavy subject is been given by Shreyas Talpade - Behroopia. This guy has really proved himself and makes us feel the movie we watch is worth it.
The moive has an edge over other counterparts by not having item numbers[this has been a must in all bollywood moives now], marketing of ladies [i feel this done in all films not alone bollywood], unwanted scenes[fights where a hero hits 20 persons, sentiments, dry scences(though the film was taken in rajasthan), tears etc] this wld go on and on and on. In simple words it stands aloof from other commercial films.
A highly respectful film.

hmm ... so u liked the film very much like i said u would. i too read the story and felt a difference. so rediff was correct it is a must watch movie for all indians.
i watched the movie yesterday and it is a must watch film. if u are masala likeing people who wants half naked dances then this film is not for u. this is a absolute story based film. it is said that it is based on true event. and a thread of the film story is said to came from a malayalam movie which was like a mega serial always crying around. but the story writer has made it very interesting. usually we say in muslim women are not having freedom wearing pardha but we forgot to see even in hindu there are still customs restricting girls freedom and rights. in this movie zeenath a musilm girl who is very independent to the contrary meera hindu girl after becoming widow pushed to loneliness. nice movie and every dialogue counts. this is a world class movie which has every potential to represent india in oscar. earlier in my reply i said rediff says it is a must watch movie but now i say it is really a must watch movie. this flim is like kurinji flower which flowers 12 years once so rare so never miss the movie thats all i can say.
